If your child is struggling to read, the good news is that reading improves faster than most parents expect — with the right instruction.
Our Florida-based virtual intensive program meets 5 days per week in 1:1 or small groups of 3–5, using proven Science of Reading methods like Lindamood-Bell and Orton-Gillingham — the same approaches used to help 675+ Florida students become confident readers.
The Summer Intensive begins June 8th — slots available 8am to 6pm. Start now after school and begin earning hours toward your recommendation today. Eligible families attend at no cost through the FES-UA scholarship.

The 12 Week Journey
Full diagnostic assessment. Identify exact gaps. Start structured literacy 5x/week. First phonics patterns introduced.
Phonemic awareness and core phonics patterns become automatic. Decoding simple and multi-syllabic words. Fluency begins to build.
Reading level gains are measurable. Fluency and comprehension expand. Vocabulary and background knowledge building. Confidence visible.
Reading grade-level text independently. Comprehension strategies in place. Independent reading habits formed. Gap closed.
Timeline based on 5 sessions/week. Students 2+ years behind may take up to 6 months. We assess every 10 sessions and update your estimate.
Most reading interventions fail not because the method is wrong, but because the dose is too low. Frequency is the primary driver of accelerated reading progress — especially for students with learning differences.

Structured literacy research + our program outcomes · color = severity
What this means for your child
At 5 sessions per week, 12 weeks of our program equals 60 hours of instruction — exactly what research shows is needed to close a 1-year reading gap. The left chart shows how fast your child can progress; the right chart shows how many hours it actually takes to get there. More sessions per week means fewer weeks to reach grade level.
Frequency builds automaticity
Reading skills require repetition to become automatic. 5 sessions per week gives the brain enough practice cycles to consolidate new phonics patterns before they're forgotten.
Structured literacy leaves nothing to chance
Every skill is taught explicitly, practiced to mastery, and built upon in a logical sequence. No guessing, no memorizing whole words, no hoping it 'clicks.'
ESE specialization changes outcomes
Generic tutors are trained for typical learners. Our instructors hold K-12 ESE certifications and specialize exclusively in dyslexia, ADHD, ASD, and language disorders.

Dr. Courtney Mustafa has spent her career making structured literacy work for the kids who need it most — the ones who've tried everything and still feel stuck. As our Director of Instruction, she oversees every session, every instructor, and every student's progress plan. She also happens to be a parent of two neurodivergent children — so she understands exactly what you're going through.
"After 3 years of once-a-week tutoring with no progress, we switched to 5 sessions a week here. In 14 weeks, my daughter went from a 1st grade reading level to 3rd grade. I wish we had found them sooner."

FES-UAWe specialize exclusively in neurodiverse learners. Every instructor is trained in the specific profiles below — not as a secondary specialty, but as the core of our practice.
Dyslexia is a language-based learning difference affecting phonological processing, decoding, and fluency. It is the most common learning disability and responds best to structured, systematic, explicit literacy instruction.
Our Approach
We follow the Science of Reading — the gold standard for dyslexia intervention. We use the Lindamood-Bell and Orton-Gillingham programs. Every session follows a multisensory sequence: phonemic awareness → symbol imagery → decoding → sight words → fluency → vocabulary → comprehension.
Expected Outcomes
Phoneme segmentation and blending automaticity
Decoding multi-syllabic words independently
Reading fluency at grade-level pace
Spelling accuracy with phonics patterns
Scholarship Coverage
FES-UA covers dyslexia intervention. A formal dyslexia diagnosis or IEP noting reading disability qualifies.
Small group instruction at high frequency produces faster reading gains than isolated 1:1 for most students — because peer learning reinforces phonics patterns in real time. We add 1:1 sessions when a specific skill needs targeted acceleration.
